Frequently Asked Questions

As standard, we use a heavy-duty 26Kg Green Mineral Roofing Felt.

But we offer an upgrade option to Commercial Grade Torch On Felt – This is applied by heating the under layer with a blow torch and allows an amount of the Tar to melt and bound directly to your new timber workshops roof.

We offer a wide variety of optional roof covering upgrades :

  • Felt Shingles
  • Corrugated Sheets
  • Full Tile Effect
  • Onduline

Or you can even opt to provide your own roof covering – say tiles to match your homes roof?

Our Standard buildings are NOT insulated as this is an upgrade option.

Depending on how much you are prepared to spend we have a selection of options for you –

Our Standard Heavy Duty Range is clad with 22mm thick pressure treated T+G  nailed onto 75mm x 50mm treasure treated framing fsc certified

28mm Bull Dog Upgrade Option

This is the same quality building but with a much thicker cladding.

In most cases, unless you live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or National Park ( suggests you do local checks first )

You will not normally need to apply for planning as we make all our buildings under 2.5m total hight as standard.

Every Local Authority has slightly different interpretations of the Gov guidelines so it is always worth checking before you place an order.

Our Workshops are made in sections that will be bolted/screwed together once on site.

Most workshops will NOT be able to be carried through a House due to the hight of the sections. We can however make and alter the components if needed.

All our Workshops are Pressure Treated before they are made in our factory.

This gives you a minimum 25-year life span and much longer if you raise the building slightly out of any holding water.

However you must still waterproof any sort of pressure-treated building with a quality shirt based treatment.

No is the simple answer, as most of the sections are very large, bulky and simply to tall to fit thought a standard height house doorway.

It is possible to make the workshop / shed / summerhouse in smaller sections enabling them to be carried thought a restricted doorway . This will usually add around 5% to 10 % of the buildings overall cost.

It is not just the extra time and materials needed in the factory but the extra time we need to spend on-site reassembling and strengthening the sections again.

So we would strongly advise you to send us some images or short video of the access issues you have so we can advise of the best way forward. In some form or other we are usually capable of overcoming most issues and will simply come down to you having to spend more money to achieve this!

Simple answer is No – But we do renew some of our show buildings. These ex-show workshops are usually either 10 x 8 or 12 x 8 to keep the same size and style on each show site, it would be very rear to have anything larger.

However we do get offered used buildings on the odd occasion. We get enquiries from people who have moved into a property and have no use for a large workshop the previous owners once used.

We always request a picture and details where the building is sited along with their contact details which can be emailed to our sales office.

We will be more than happy to pass on these details to you and can even quote for the dismantling and refitting of that building.
